"Dear Elder Ricks,
We are thrilled to learn of your call to serve in La Mision Mexico Veracruz, the best mission in the world! Your purpose will be to 'invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end' (PMG pg. 1). We share your enthusiasm to commence this special spiritual experience.
There are a few things we would like you to do before you enter the MTC. First pray for the Lord's help and blessings to be upon you. Next, read and prayerfully study the Book of Mormon with the 'eye of faith' (Ether 12:19) and seek a firm, unwavering testimony of it. Carefully read and study your 'Preach My Gospel' manual. Please study it all, but focus on chapters 2, 4, and 6. Then, become familiar with all the lessons in chapter three. Study it side by side with your scriptures open. Study and commit yourself to the standards of missionary service and conduct in the Missionary Handbook. Your success depends on your obedience and worthiness, your devotion and faith, and your sacrifice and consecration.
Serving an honorable mission will bless your life forever. We join with the First Presidency in saying, "We compliment you on the great opportunity you have to be a missionary. There is no more compelling work than thisk, nor any which brings greater satisfaction. The Lord will reward and richly bless you as you humbly and prayerfully serve Him. More happiness awaits you than you have ever experienced as you labor among His children." We are looking forward to meeting you. We are praying for you. We love you already and are anxious to welcome you into our mission family!
